The purpose of this Wiki is to provide you with information about Virtual Campus events and activities. Please refer to the "Pages" area on the right-hand side for a complete list of site pages.

An important part of your education and experiences at HACC is involvement with student activities, events, and programs. Online and on-campus opportunities allow you to seek out new adventures, give back to your community, participate in HACC governance, and make life-long friends!

All students taking online courses are members of the Virtual Campus Online Student Community. This community provides you with a “voice” through participation in the HACC governance process, networking opportunities and advising. All of this is available at your fingertips! The online student community can be accessed by logging into Desire2Learn. The Student Community will appear on the course list.

Online students are encouraged to become actively involved in on-campus student government associations, clubs, organizations and activites through the Student Life Offices at any of HACC's physical campuses. Governance Structure at HACC

The name of the governance structure at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) is known as the Student Government.

Purpose of the Student Government

The purpose of Student Government is to ensure equal representation for students and to provide a unified college-wide voice for all HACC campuses. The Student Government is a union of self-governing Student Government Association’s (SGA) who provide specific campus representation. Within this union, a selected committee is formed to represent the entire student governance structure in college-wide affairs. This committee is known as the Student Government Association Executive Council (SGAEC).

Student Government Association Executive Council (SGAEC)

Purpose of SGAEC:

The purpose of the SGAEC to ensure representation and provide a unified college-wide voice for the students at all campuses by participating in the shared governance process at HACC.

Qualifications of SGAEC Ambassadors:

SGAEC Ambassadors must be currently enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours per semester. Ambassadors must be enrolled for a minimum of three (3) credit hours each semester at the campus they represent. Ambassadors must be an active member of their respective campus SGA.

Virtual Campus is collecting online student presentations that showcases students skills, talents, religion, culture or lifestyle to share with other online students, faculty, and staff. Students who are interested may contact Jazmin Byers, jbbyers@hacc.edu.

Virtual Campus is developing a Student Advisory Committee for input related to the Virtual Campus online student community as well as activities and events. Contact Jazmin Byers, jbbyers@hacc.edu to find out more and to join.

Students Helping Students is a supply drive, asking students to donate specific, slightly used, or unused school supplies which will be given to the Give A Kid A Backpack Foundation (http://www.giveakidabackpack.org/?gclid=CN6l3fea1qcCFYhx5QodKV6iAA for more information on this foundation). The supplies will be sent to children living in poverty, who are in need of certain school supplies in order to continue their education. Students Helping Students hopes to demonstrate that American Students do not take education for granted. Please contact Jenna Welsh at HelpAStudentToday@gmail.com for more information.

Students Helping Students is a supply drive initiative for American school districts. Children in poverty stricken areas are in great need of supplies and support that can allow them to attend school. The Students Helping Students supply drive initiative asks for students across America to donate their unused or un-needed supplies by the end of the school year in order to give the gift of education to a less fortunate student.

To donate to the Students Helping Students cause, please view the list of needed supplies and assemble what you think may be of use; then either call 717-398-6013 or email HelpAStudentToday@gmail.com so we can arrange for the transportation of your supplies.

The PALOMA Social Justice Retreat is a day filled with innovative, informative and interactive workshops focused on how we as college students and administrators can help to break the double standards and status quo that exists within our society.   3. AP 361---motion by Ambassador Shultz to revise III. B 2 to read, When classes are in session, all employees should must use staff-designated parking areas until filled before parking in general areas.”
    1. Lancaster Campus expressed a concern that faculty/staff park in student lots when there are spaces available in their designated lots.
    2. No quorum was present at meeting, so a motion was made to vote via email.
    3. Ambassadors are to return to October meeting with any recommendations for AP 512, 822, 832, 833, & 880.
